Today the President of the United States received the Nobel Peace Prize. He read a stirring speech in which he used the Nobel Peace Prize to justify America's wars.
In my opinion this was one of the most interesting presidential statements since Bill Clinton speculated on the meaning of "is". In case you have forgotten that one, it went like this:

In order to celebrate Obama endeavoring to reach Clinton's superb mastery of the fine American art of euphemism, I have thought up a little contest to choose other unlikely prize winners.

Tempting as it is to make fun of Obama’s prize, I can’t really do it. He didn’t campaign for the thing, it was dropped in his lap, and I imagine he wishes he had never received it. I also understand why he couldn’t turn it down.
His speech was also largely dictated by circumstances. I did think it was interesting that during the postgame analysis a number of liberals were applauding points made by Obama that could have come direct from a speech by Bush, which shows the state of lefty opposition these days.
Good old Sonny Tufts. Sometimes you can go reasonably far on no looks, no talent, and an unappetizing personality.

OK, so 'war is peace'.
It's really too bad there is no such thing as a Nobel prize for advancing Education. If there were, Obama could potentially win it, and during the acceptance speech, no doubt tell us that 'ignorance is strength'.
As it happens, there's an international museum to slavery in Liverpool. I have in mind an inspirational speech he could give there.
Bush got a trifecta; why not one for Obama?
